Powerful color series that portrays the socio-economic transformation experienced by his native Greece in recent years. The disturbing winner work explores photography and the Greek crisis as factors that stop time and life , in this case , of Athens and its citizens.
The jury that awarded the Greek artist has been integrated by the specialists Lorenza Bravetta, Gilles Favier and Markus Hartmann. The PHE15 Descubrimientos Award recognizes the best photographic work presented in the portfolio reviews organized in the last year by PHotoEspaña in Rosario, Tegucigalpa and Madrid
In addition, the participant of portfolio reviews, Cecilia Lutufyan, has been selected to attend the next Master PHotoEspaña. Theory and artistic practices taught by PIC.A. PHotoEspaña International Centre Alcobendas.
PHotoEspaña, across an international jury make up experts in photography, have awarded the Descubrimientos PHE15 Award to the photographer Yannis Karpouzis (Athens, Greece,1984) for the series The Parallel Crisis (2010). A work in progress that explores photography and the crisis in Greece, his native country, as factors that stop time. The series shows portraits contextualized in the landscape that reveal strength and contrasts. Characters and locations to which convey a sense of unease . The award will allow Karpouzis to take part in PHotoEspaña 2016 with a solo exhibition.
