“Kazan is the first publication of Japanese photographer Mayumi Hosokura. In a magazine-like format, with embossed scribbling on the front, Kazan is Mayumi’s creation about placing the human form with nature’s textures, paired with scenes of rocks, trees, minerals. She quotes, “My relationship with nature has not changed and my idea of intimacy hasn’t either. We cannot fight nature. Nature is and will stay beautiful and scary at the same time”. Mayumi’s work creates an ideal world of visual sensitivity in contrast with a tender fusion of man and nature.” – Manik Katyal
