Gomma Photography Grant 2014: Final Call

The Gomma Photography Grant is a grant contest tailored to fund and support photographers working in various genre. Begun in 2014, the Gomma Grant has quickly acquired a reputation for being ethical and quality-focused, with an eye for spotting fresh talent and encouraging those already in the spotlight.

Italy –

The Gomma Photography Grant deadline is approaching on October 31st and they want photographers from anywhere, of any background, and of all ages to apply. ‘No fees to apply; open to everyone; deadline 31st October. No questions asked.’  One thousand Euros grant will be awarded to a photographer for an ongoing work. Any medium, black & white or color, analogue or digital.

They state: ‘What we are looking for is consistency, personality and courage. You must submit between 20 and 50 images from the same body of work. Please note that this work must be an ongoing project that you are looking to complete within the next 18 months. The grant prize must be spent on the realization and completion of this work. You can spend it the way you want; you could pump your films supply, load your darkroom with chemistry, buy a new lens, or getting hard drives and memory cards … It is up to you as long as it is invested in this work. All we ask from you is to keep us updated on the progress and let us know how you spent the grant. This will help us improve the grant contest of the following years. Yes, the Gomma Photography Grant will not be a one-off event, it will continue annually.

We know that 1000 Euros will not enable you to go and shoot the aborigines in Papua Guinea but we do believe that it will help a photographer to proceed with and, hopefully, complete an ongoing work. We are fully aware of the costs that photographers have to face on a daily basis so we at Gomma have decided to light up our own Karmic balance and had come up with a new grant for photographers. Completely free, no catches whatsoever, no hidden fees, nada…and no questions asked, just keep us updated of your progress should you be the lucky recipient of this grant.’

Deadline: 31st October 2014.
